This activity ranks among my top three favourite things to do in Zermatt in winter. The Moonlight Descent is a special ski experience, and is particularly fun to do with a group. It begins at Rothorn with a small aperitif to set the mood.
From there, you’ll glide down nearly deserted slopes under the glow of a full moon. The surrounding peaks glimmer in the soft light, and the winter forest takes on a magical feel.
Below, the twinkling lights of Zermatt create a perfect contrast to the peacefulness of the mountain. At the base, the CERVO Mountain Resort awaits with a warm mulled wine on the terrace.
The night is topped off with a hearty Swiss fondue and live music at the Ferdinand restaurant, where the atmosphere is as lively as the meal is delicious.

2. Glide Above Zermatt
Paragliding in Zermatt is particularly special during the winter. Once you’ve taken a run and jump off the snow covered mountain, your pilot will have you gracefully gliding above the village.
This is one way to get unique Matterhorn views and an excellent selfie. Whether you’re up for a thrilling ride or a gentle descent, your pilot will tailor your experience to your preferences.
Myself and my 12 year old (at the time) niece, have both flown with Fly Zermatt and had an excellent experience. The pilots are knowlegeable, trustworthy and make sure you are safe and have a fantastic time.

Note: Your lift ticket is not included and your experience time includes the time spent with the huskies. The ride on the sled is a short ride, not the full 1.5 hrs. This might not be the ideal activity for very small children.
