1. Interior Design with Amazing Matterhorn Views at BEAUSiTE Zermatt

A snow covered Matterhorn in Zermatt, through the window of the Beausite Hotel.

This is one of the best hotels in Zermatt with a view of the Matterhorn. What we love about BEUSiTE is its stylish design, gorgeous spa, elegant lounge bar, diverse selection of restaurants, and endless Matterhorn views. From the pool to the rooms, there’s no hiding from Mr Hörnli from here.

BEAUSiTE is a 5-star hotel, conveniently located in the centre of town, but just enough off the main thoroughfare to be nice and quiet. It’s a short walk to the ski bus and has one of the best outdoor swimming pools in Zermatt. Cheese lovers should try fondue at the Witch’eese Fondue Hut, and meat lovers can indulge in a selection of cuts at The Grill.

During winter, we love heading to the bar for a more relaxed après-ski experience. We’re talking acoustic sets in a stylish lounge, with our favourite wine, cocktails and alcohol-free drinks.

Design lovers will feel right at home in the stylish rooms and suites, ranging from gorgeous single rooms to a luxurious suite with a spa bathroom and a private tower offering a 360° view of Zermatt!

2. Modern Luxury Near the Train Station at Schweizerhof Zermatt

La Mũna restaurant at the Schweizerhof, Zermatt.

The Schweizerhof is conveniently located just a short walk from the train station, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer not to travel too far to reach their hotel. This also makes access to the Gornergrat train and the bus to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise easier.

The Schweizerhof is a standout for us due to its modern interior, spa, summer terrace, and choice of restaurants. The Cheese Factory has the biggest selection of cheese, meat and even chocolate fondue in Zermatt.

La Mũna is an amazing Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant, while the lounge is a great place to shoot some pool or find a cosy nook to read a book.

The Schweizerhof has a variety of rooms to choose from, including excellent options for families and hotel rooms with a Matterhorn view.

3. Mountainside 5-star Luxury at The Omnia

The Omnia in front of the Matterhorn, one of our top hotel recommendations in Zermatt, Switzerland.

If you’re looking for your James Bond moment, then The Omnia is the hotel for you. Access is through a private tunnel and mountain lift, which brings you out to the hotel’s striking glass structure perched on the mountainside.

From this location, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Zermatt village and the Matterhorn. The Omnia exudes luxury, showcasing sleek design, an indoor-outdoor pool, and a fine dining restaurant. The spa and pool are exclusively available to hotel guests.

We love the surprise five-course menu at the Omnia Restaurant. Let the chefs whisk you away on a culinary journey, and afterwards, relax with your favourite drink by the fireplace.

The best suite in the house is the Roof Suite, located in the attic, featuring a separate living room, bedroom, and sauna, as well as a balcony with a stunning Matterhorn view.

4. Sustainable Ethos and a Vibrant Scene at CERVO

A rustic chic room with a Matterhorn view at CERVO, Zermatt

CERVO is the place to be if you’re looking for sustainability, incredible après-ski, a gorgeous spa experience, and restaurants offering a wide variety of dishes. The décor is rustic chic, perfectly capturing the essence of the modern alpinist.

Located at the end of the Sunnegga slopes, CERVO is ski-to-door and offers direct lift access to the Sunnegga funicular station. This is ideal for confident red run skiers and après-ski enthusiasts.

The rooms range from 4-star studios to 5-star suites with a private spa, all serviced by the dedicated CERVO team. Attention to detail is evident here, from the luxury toiletries to the books on the shelves and flower vases, CERVO offers a rustic slice of home.

Foodies will enjoy the diverse menus, featuring vegan options, the CERVO burger, and, of course, their famous CERVO truffle fries, as well as a selection of delicious pasta dishes.

When the sun starts to get low, make sure you’re waiting on the terrace to be serenaded by acoustic sounds or ready to dance your ski boots off. The CERVO spa has the best cold plunge pool in town and is one of our favourites, especially during the warmer months.

5. It’s Historic, it’s the OG, it’s the Monte Rosa

Shutters and metal signage of the Monte Rosa luxury hotel in Zermatt.

If you want to be enveloped in Zermatt history, then the only option for your stay is the Monte Rosa. This is Zermatt’s first-ever hotel; for a few years, it was the only hotel in town. This is where mountaineers have stayed since 1853, while tackling the surrounding peaks.

Including Edward Whymper when he first summited the Matterhorn in 1865, and Lucy Walker, the first woman to summit our famous peak in 1871. The rooms are designed in a stylish, classic Swiss chalet style, with a ton of charisma, yet all the modern amenities.

The accommodation ranges from cosy rooms to luxurious suites, some with a view of the village, others with a view of the Matterhorn. While the Monte Rosa doesn’t have spa facilities, you do have access to one of the best spas in town at the Mont Cervin Palace.

We love tucking into a classic cheese fondue or a house special meat fondue in the Whymper Stube restaurant, or hanging out in the timeless bar, swapping mountain stories with visitors and locals.

6. Art & Lifestyle at the Backstage Spa Hotel

Modern alpine-steampunk rooms at the Backstage Hotel Zermatt, one of our top recommendations

The Backstage Hotel is on this list for many reasons. It has the only cinema in town, the most unique spa I’ve ever had the pleasure of relaxing in, and regularly hosts lively pop-up events, including galleries, live music and DJs.

The hotel itself is a gorgeous glass structure right in the centre of town, overlooking the ice rink or tennis courts (depending on the time of year). Inside, the quirky decor screams Alpine-Steampunk by local artist Heinz Julen.

During winter, we love their Michelin-starred restaurant, After 7, and their legendary Zermatt Unplugged parties. The rooms range from cosy two-person suites to four-person suites, some offering a bathtub with a Matterhorn view.

They also offer a fully serviced private chalet, featuring the same Alpine-Steampunk design as the hotel, located near the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car.

7. Ski In and Ski Out at Riffelalp Resort 2’222 m

Riffelalp Resort 5 star hotel in Zermatt, beside the piste in winter.

For a 5-star ski in and ski out experience, it has to be Riffelalp Resort 2’222 m. Located next to Riffelalp 39 and Landtunnel 41 Red slopes, Riffelalp Resort is conveniently located right on the piste and close to the Gornergrat railway.

We love the path leading from Riffelalp train station to the hotel; it feels like you’ve stepped through the wardrobe and into Narnia.

We highly recommend Riffelalp Resort for families; you’ll love the children’s entertainment, which includes nanny services, a bowling alley, and pizzas in the shape of the Matterhorn.

Couples will enjoy the romantic setting, outdoor heated pool and stunning spa. The accommodation ranges from cosy single rooms to deluxe suites with Matterhorn views. Special train services operate in the evening, allowing you to visit the village whenever you wish.

8. Families and Beginner Skiers at Welschen Hotel

A view of the snow-covered Matterhorn from the Welschen hotel, Zermatt

The Welschen Hotel is the new kid on the block, well, kind of. Originally constructed in 1932 and completed in 1934, the Hotel has been passed down through generations of the Welschen family and has undergone many facelifts, the most recent of which was a full renovation and expansion, completed in 2025.

The 4-star hotel is conveniently located near the Sunnegga funicular station. This is excellent news for families and skiers seeking a hotel with modern amenities and easy access to the beginner slopes.

We love the modern style, fitness centre, multiple sauna options and the swimming pool. The accommodations range from double rooms to three-bedroom apartments, most of which offer a view of the Matterhorn.

9. Affordable Zermatt Accommodation at Hotel Garni Testa Grigia

Hotel Garni Testa Grigia on Zermatt highstreet, top recommendations for Switzerland.

This is our go-to for the most affordable hotel in Zermatt. Hotel Garni Testa Grigia is situated on the main high street. This location is ideal for accessing the train station, as well as the Gornergrat train and buses to other parts of town or ski lifts.

Being centrally located means you’re also close to shops, bars, and restaurants, making it perfect for wandering along Bahnhofstrasse (the main high street) and Hinterdorfstrasse (Zermatt’s old town).

A healthy breakfast buffet is included, and 12 out of the 33 rooms have a view of the Matterhorn. We love the relaxed yet efficient staff and welcoming environment.

10. Affordable Spa & Pool at Zermatt Budget Rooms, Alpen Resort

Large, modern pool and hot tub, inside the Alpen Resort Zermatt

As part of the Alpen Resort, Zermatt budget rooms are definitely the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to Zermatt’s affordable accommodation. While it is slightly more expensive than Hotel Garni Testa Grigia, it offers all the modern facilities of the Alpen Resort Hotel.

The Budget Rooms are located underground, and although they have a window, they don’t offer a view. For the price, this really isn’t an issue, as many other parts of the hotel offer a view of the Matterhorn.

The Alpen Resort is situated in a quiet area of town, close to the train station. This is a bonus for anyone wanting to be near the train station but not on the main high street. We love their pool, spa facilities and rustic lounge area with huge glass windows and that all-important view of the Matterhorn.
